COMPUTERISATION CSTC in its effort to absorb IT (Information Technology) in all spheres of operation implemented Material Management System at Central Stores, Belghoria and Depot Management System in all depots (Lake, Belghoria, Howrah, Paikpara, Taratala, Manicktala, Thakurpukur, Garia, Salt lake, Kasba & Nilgunge). While Material Management System at Central Stores has been yielding better benefits through inventory control and material planning, on-line Depot Management System is providing ticket sale accounting, ticket stock maintenance, vehicle and crew performance, break-down and accident analysis, maintenance planning and analysis of spares consumption etc. Depot operations are thus streamlined through on-line computerisation. With a view to strengthening the Mofussil bus operation, computerisation has been implemented at Esplanade (Long Distance Bus Terminus) with the adaptation of the latest software technology of ORACLE and CLIENT SERVER Architecture. Reservation facilities are available to book tickets in advance for both outward and inward journeys. It also takes care of pass, VIP and handicapped bookings and provides on-line status of reservation for each service. Besides, activities of the Accounts department at Belghoria have also been brought under the purview of computerisation. On-line systems are modern tool to enable CSTC workers to perform their job more efficiently as the computer works alongside the staff in daily operation. It is to the credit of the CSTC workers that they have taken up the challenge of this high technology and used it effectively for betterment of the Corporation’s performance. For change over from manual system to computerised system, requirement of trained and motivated manpower has been provided through continuous training of officers and staff from time to time, by drawing on in-house resources.
